“Do I have to exercise?”
“Only exercise if you want to feel
better quicker and prevent pain,“ your Severna Park
chiropractic replies.
“How long do I
have to exercise each day?”
“Not long, just effectively,” Back And Neck Care Center
suggests.
Exercise is not every Severna Park back pain or neck
pain patient’s ‘cup of tea’. Back And Neck Care Center knows.
Exercise is also so important to our back and neck pain
patient’s recovery and future prevention of the pain. We are with our Severna Park
chiropractic patients all along the way to get
the most of the exercise effort so that it pays off in pain relief and prevention.
OPTIMAL NECK PAIN EXERCISE GUIDES
Neck pain sufferers know how pain
may reduce their ability to look around
comfortably. Such neck pain patients were tested as to
their cervical range of motion and pain intensity with a flexion-rotation test.
They were then directed to do a 20-minutes cervical spine
exercise session. 50% of them were then additionally
treated with manual therapy applied to the C0-C1 and C2-C3 cervical spine
levels. Those who performed the exercise program and were treated did significantly
better in terms of range of motion, pain intensity reduction,
and the flexion-rotation test. (1) Another research project found
that the optimal stretching time of cervical muscles in patients with chronic
myofascial pain syndrome was 30 seconds as opposed to 15
or 60 seconds or no stretching. This allowed the most
benefit to pain intensity decrease while minimizing
any negative effects on neural function of the involved
nerve roots and central nervous system. (2) Back And Neck Care Center always highlights
that the proper exercise performed in the right
way doesn’t have to take long to be effective!
Plus, exercise places some control in the
hands of its sufferer since exercise can be done anytime.
OPTIMAL LOW BACK PAIN EXERCISE GUIDES
Incorporating exercise training into the
multidisciplinary treatment of non-specific chronic low back pain does make
sense. This type of back pain involves so many
people globally and is a leading
source of disability. Proper exercise training transitions the back
pain patient to self-management. Recently, researchers proposed
that pain intensity and disability - and even mental health issues
in these back pain patients - were improved with options
like resistance and aerobic exercise while Pilates, resistance exercise, yoga,
and stabilization exercise. (3) Back And Neck Care Center agrees! Exercise is valuable
in so many ways.
