Right leg. Left leg. Sciatic leg
pain will affect either leg
(and sometimes both). Severna Park chiropractic care at Back And Neck Care Center
helps reduce leg pain and focuses on
the spinal source of the sciatica at the same time. Back And Neck Care Center guides
Severna Park leg pain and back pain patients to pain relief with chiropractic care.
SCIATIC LEG PAIN: Right Leg or Left Leg
You’ve heard of right-handed people and left-handed
people, right? Of course, you have! Did you know that the right
leg grows longer in left-handed people and the left leg grows longer in
right-handed people? Not all the time, but
research has it documented in pretty high percentages.
Bearing this in mind, it’s not surprising that more
people have longer left legs (53%) than right
legs (39%). Incredibly, just 8% of people have equal
leg lengths. (1) How does that impact
which leg will have sciatica? Discs will
bulge into the concavity of the curve owing to a variety
of issues like uneven stresses on the disc’s anulus. The
concavity of the spinal curve is on the long leg side. A right-handed person
with a long left leg will likely have leg pain
on the left side. Another curious point: hip pain often arises
on the long leg side, too: 88.9% long leg vs 11.1% short leg.
Sciatica is the same: 78.5% arises on the long
leg side vs 21.5% on the short leg side. (2,3) Your
Severna Park chiropractor can see a short leg pretty
simply by checking three things: iliac
crest, the verticality of the spine, and levelness of the posterosuperior iliac
spine dimples. Researchers wrote that there is a solid
relationship between visual and xray measurements. (4) Trust your Severna Park
chiropractor to find a short leg…and address any related
disc herniation sources of pain!
DISC HERNIATION RE-ABSORPTION WITH NON-SURGICAL CARE
A new study reported on 75 cases of ruptured
lumbar disc herniation. Forty-six of the 75 cases had
leg pain radiculopathy: 46 cases on the left and 29 on
the right. (Makes sense now, yes?)
At 5 years post- non-surgical treatment, a
“reabsorption” phenomenon was seen. The excellent and good rate of disc reabsorption
was 73.24%. (5) Back And Neck Care Center delivers relieving
non-surgical care of Severna Park leg pain and back pain.
RELIEF FOR Severna Park LEG PAIN and BACK PAIN
And then remember the new paper about
the benefits of chiropractic maintenance care: Maintenance care decreases
the number of painful days for acute back pain
episodes and raises the length of pain-free times
between recurrent back pain episodes of persistent back pain. (6) Back And Neck Care Center
is here for those back pain and leg pain patients seeking fewer days with back and leg
pain and those who want to live life with fewer periods
of leg and back pain.
